mission
Feminists of Winnipeg is an intersectional feminism community and zine, with the mission to educate, encourage and empower women and LGBTQ2S+ communities.

history
Feminists of Winnipeg began as a small pandemic project on Instagram—a platform to share, learn, and educate others about the intersectionality of feminism. I felt that Winnipeg was missing a Gen Z-driven activist community, especially one with a presence in print.
Over the years, my little Instagram account became deeply intertwined with my schoolwork. This eventually led to my final university project: creating a full zine to raise awareness about identity and gender performance.

Throughout the process, I discovered the joy and creativity involved in curating and designing a zine. Watching the community grow along the way was incredibly rewarding, and it solidified my passion for continuing this work.
About the Zine
Who runs the zine?
The zine is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who work on it during their spare time. Each member brings their passion, creativity, and skills to help produce and curate content, all in the spirit of sharing unique perspectives and fostering a sense of community.
Is the zine only for women?
No! Feminists of Winnipeg is a community for all genders to explore.
Do I have to be a feminist to read or support the zine?
We welcome everyone who is interested in exploring diverse perspectives, engaging with thought-provoking content, and contributing to conversations that promote equality and social justice."

How do you decide what gets published?
Currently, we get a low amount of submissions, meaning almost everything sent in gets published!

Values
Is the zine intersectional?
Yes, the zine is intersectional. We aim to amplify voices that reflect the diverse ways identity, privilege, and oppression intersect. We are as intersectional as the people who contribute, with each voice adding to the richness and inclusivity of our content.
How do you make sure the zine is inclusive?
We make sure the zine is inclusive by actively seeking out diverse voices and perspectives. We encourage contributions from people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences, and prioritize representation across race, gender, sexuality, and more. By fostering an open, welcoming space, we aim to create content that resonates with and supports a broad range of readers.
Are you affiliated with any political group?
No, we are not affiliated with any specific political group. However, the zine is rooted in values of social justice, equality, and empowerment. We support movements and ideas that work toward dismantling systems of oppression and fostering positive change for all people, regardless of their background or identity.
